November 19, 2020

ATHENS — Beneficiaries of the guaranteed minimum income will receive double the amount of aid in December, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras and Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis announced on Thursday.

This aid concerns 482,335 vulnerable citizens belonging to 256,562 households in the country. The minimum guaranteed income is 200 euros for each single-person household, which is increased by 100 euros for each additional adult member and by 50 euros for each minor in the household.

At the same time, the finance minister announced, in the context of supporting companies and employees during the pandemic, there will be an extension into 2021 of the "repayable advance", whose 5th round starts in the next few days (with the platform remaining open until November 30) with 1.2 billion euros. There is also a 75-day postponement of the cashing of checks, a mandatory reduction of rents, the "Bridge" programme and a suspensions of tax obligations.
