November 16, 2020

ATHENS — A resolution of protest against the ban on rallies was handed over to the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the President of Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas and State Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis on Monday by a delegation from main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, and opposition Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and MERA25 parties.

The delegation of the three opposition parties visited the parliament president and expressed its strong protest against the government's decision to ban rallies for four days, including the November 17 anniversary.

Afterwards, the delegation, represented by Olga Gerovasili (SYRIZA), Thanasis Pafilis (KKE), Sofia Sakorafa and Kleonas Georgiadis (MERA25), met at the Maximos Palace with the Minister of State.

Now they are visiting the President of the Republic, after which they will make statements to the press.

ATHENS — For decades, Britain and Greece were able to differ, largely politely, over the world's toughest cultural heritage dispute: What's the right place for some of the finest ancient Greek sculptures ever made, which have been displayed in London for more than 200 years but which Greece vocally wants back.
