Mitsotakis Speaks with von der Leyen about Afghanistan, Climate Change Summits

ATHENS — Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke earlier on Tuesday with EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen ahead of the G7 leadership teleconference on Afghanistan the same day.

Government sources also said that Mitsotakis underlined the need for Mediterranean countries to take initiatives on climate change, particularly about wildfires. He noted this ahead of von der Leyen's annual address on the State of the Union, and ahead of the summit of nine Mediterranean countries in the EU (MED9EU) scheduled in September on Crete.
