Conferences on the History and Culture of Greece and India

ATHENS – The Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice and the Chair of Greek Studies at the Jawaharlal NehruUniversity (JNU) in New Delhi have agreed to hold two international conferences on “The Greek World and India: History, Culture and Trade from the Hellenistic period to the Modern Era (4th century BC – 18th century AD)”, in December 2022 in New Delhi and in September 2023 in Venice, according to an announcement by the foreign ministry.

The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki will also participate in the organization of the conference in New Delhi, which will take place from December 12 to December 16, 2022.

The initiative for the organization of the above conferences was announced by Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias during his lecture at the JNU Chair of Greek Studies within the framework of his recent visit to India (New Delhi, March 22-23, 2022).

The organization of the specific international conferences is part of the steady course of strengthening and developing the relations between Greece and India, which extend to the educational-cultural sector.
