YiaYia’s Greek Kitchen Ranked #83 in Yelp’s Top 100 US Restaurants

Landing a spot on Yelp’s 100 Best Restaurants in the U.S., YiaYia’s Greek Kitchen in Torrington, CT was ranked 83d and the only Greek eatery to be featured on the list that features foods from cultures around the world.

It’s been a favorite in the state and known for fresh ingredients and a menu changing seasonally but keeps the focus on traditional Greek food, including gyros and skewers, noted The Daily Voice.

“I was slightly nervous that the hype would make my expectations too high and it wouldn’t measure up. However, this place FAR exceeded my expectations,” said a Yelp reviewer. “The tzatziki was perfectly spicy and zesty,” passing a key test.
Kaitlyn and Yanni Gogo named the taverna after their children’s grandmother – YiaYia – and featured her recipes.

“We want to transport our visitors to our favorite place in the world, the Cycladic Islands,” said Kaitlyn. In keeping with Greek tradition, the food is made fresh daily, one of the reasons for its popularity.

Said another reviewer: “You know it from the minute you walk in the door with the aromas coming from the kitchen.”
