LMU Celebrates 1821 with Prof. Roderick Beaton via Zoom on March 20

LOS ANGELES – In celebration of the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution of 1821 and 200 years of Modern Greece and its people, Loyola Marymount University (LMU) Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts’ Basil P. Caloyeras Center for Modern Greek Studies welcomes Professor Roderick Beaton, Emeritus Koraes Professor of Modern Greek & Byzantine History, Language, and Literature at King’s College, UK.

One of the most distinguished scholars of Hellenic Studies internationally, Professor Beaton is a Fellow of the British Academy and Commander of the Order of Honor of the Hellenic Republic.

His ZOOM talk “In the Footsteps of the Americas: The Greek Revolution of 1821 and Its Place in World History” will take place on Saturday, March 20, 12 PM PST/ 3 PM EST.

The Caloyeras Center also welcomes Her Excellency the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the United States, Alexandra Papadopoulou, for the opening remarks to Prof. Beaton’s talk.
