WHITESTONE, NY – The Sunday School, Greek School, and Stars Academy students of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in Whitestone celebrated the Sunday of Orthodoxy on March 24 and Greek Independence Day, March 25.

The students of the Efstathios & Stamatiki Valiotis Greek Afternoon School celebrated Greek Independence and the Annunciation with an event on March 21 with a beautiful presentation of poems, plays, song and dance relating to the religious and national holidays.

The community’s early childhood day school Holy Cross Stars Academy celebrated Greek Independence on March 25. After attending the Divine Liturgy in the morning and receiving Holy Communion, the students took a commemorative photo with staff and Fr. Paros and then marched in their own mini-parade outside the school.

The Stars Academy next open house takes place Thursday, April 4, 7 PM, followed by Thursday, May 9, 9 AM; and Wednesday, May 22, 7 PM.
