Pandemic On: Greece Opens Restaurants, Theaters, Cinemas

ATHENS – In a move benefiting the vaccinated, Greece's New Democracy government as of Oct. 9 will let restaurants, theaters and cinemas run with full capacity for those who can prove they are not infected with COVID-19.

That lifts health restrictions aimed at slowing the spread of the Coronavirus even as the pandemic lingers, with some on the government's advisory panel of doctors and scientists said to be skeptical that's the right move, said Kathimerini.

For restaurants, that will apply only to those designated as COVID-Free, allowing only vaccinated customers and clarification coming about rules for restaurants with mixed spaces.

Despite trepidation as the Coronavirus is still spreading because of the contagious Delta Variant, the government will also stricter conditions for high-risk regions around the country, including bars and clubs, but only for the vaccinated.

That's part of a persuasion campaign that has failed to far to convince rabid anti-vaxxers who think the vaccines aren't safe or effective or are part of a world wide conspiracy to alter their DNA or control their minds that they are wrong.

Also ended are overnight curfews in areas that had mini-lockdowns because there were so many cases, and music will also be allowed in bars and restaurants after musicians and DJ's complained about being locked out.

But in those regions people will still allegedly have to wear masks and keep social distances, both widely ignored now and with no reports that police are trying to enforce the conditions now.
