ATHENS – A little more than two weeks after Greece's schools opened during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has seen cases go up for those under 18, but not markedly, despite worries being in close contract would bring greater outbreaks.

The New Democracy government's advisory team of doctors and scientists studying epidemiological data found that there's more than 5,000 Coronavirus cases in those under 18, with many youth still believing they can't be infected.

Data from the National Public Health Organization (EODY) showed there were fewer cases in the week up to Oct. 26, some 4,309 new diagnoses were recorded in people aged up to 17 out of a total of 15,185, compared to 3,812 in the week of Sept. 13-19 with a total of 15,627 cases, said Kathimerini.
