Iliopoulos: First Big Battle Against Government’s Labour Bill on Thursday

ΑΤΗΕΝS — "Τοmorrow's strike will be the first big battle against New Democracy's draft law, which abolishes eight-hour working day," underlined main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Nassos Iliopoulos while speaking to radio "Sto Kokkino" on Wednesday.

"The government, with this bill, wants to serve the interests of the most reactionary segment of employers," he underlined. "It is a policy that supports the crooks, those that have learned to steal from salaries, not pay overtime and not be checked by the labour inspectorate," claimed Iliopoulos.

"When you legalise what, until yesterday, was illegal, this means that the illegalities will become worse because you give more space to a logic of impunity and embolden the employers who do not respect labour rights. In this way you create a productive model in which violating labour, environmental and tax laws becomes a comparative advantage for enterprises and this is the model that Νew Democracy envisages," said Iliopoulos.
