NEW YORK – The groundbreaking exhibition A World of Emotions at the Onassis Cultural Center continues with exciting events this June. Guided tours continue this month at the Olympic Tower in Manhattan, as well as off-site events featuring books and music by talented artists that enrich and enhance the experience.

The acclaimed exhibition gets its broadcast debut on NYC-Arts hosted by Paula Zahn and Philippe de Montebello on June 1 on WNET, the first airing of the program on the preeminent show dedicated to culture’ s best in the New York metropolitan area.The program will also air on other local PBS stations including WLIW21 and NJTV. On June 8, Sasha Fletcher, author of It is Going To Be A Good Year (Big Lucks Books, 2016), hosts and presents I Get So Emotional: A Poetry Reading in A World of Emotions. He is joined by fellow poets Jay Deshpande, Monica McClure, Tommy “Teebs” Pico, and Montana Ray.

The season’s final Family Sunday at Onassis:Everyday Emotionstakes place on June 11 with three sessions for children ages 5-9 years old, families can register online. The event includes live music during tours of the exhibition, and activities to elevate emotions by putting feelings to music and creating crafts that are anything but everyday.

The events off-site include European Literature Night at the Bohemian National Hall, 321 East 73rd Street,on June 2, which brings the spirt of European cafe culture to New York City, featuring live performed readings from 15 exceptional European books, accompanied by an international book fair. Audiences move from room to room to experience literary works from prominent and up-and-coming authors. Greece will be represented by the anthology, Austerity Measures, which showcases the richness of contemporary Greek poetry.

Petros Klampanis celebrates the release of his new album Chroma, recorded live at the Onassis Cultural Center New York. Chroma, the Greek word for color, blends the colors of emotion and experience into a rich portrait of humanity. Klampanis’ first large ensemble album melds the composer’s jazz quintet with classically arranged strings to create a symphonic-sounding work of modern jazz. The event takes place at National Sawdust, 80 North Streetin Brooklyn on June 15.

On June 19, Arundhati Roy,the Booker Prize-winning author of The God of Small Things, will appearat BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, co-presented by the Onassis Cultural Center New York and BAM. Tony Award-winning playwright Eve Ensler will give the Introduction to Roy at the launch of her moving new novel The Ministry of Utmost Happiness. In addition to reading from her latest work, she will speak about the creative process, participate in an audience Q&A, and sign copies of her new book post-show.

Contemporary art presented by the Onassis Cultural Center New York is on view in the Olympic Tower Atrium. The Art Wall displays specially commissioned installations by international artists inspired by Hellenic culture on a regularly rotating basis. Black Frames, a multimedia work on canvas by Jannis Varelas, was commissioned to coincide with the exhibition,A World of Emotions on view now throughJune 24.
