ATHENS — Greece ranked 24th among the top 40 global markets in renewable energy sources, a record-high performance for the country, Ernst & Young said in a report. EY made particular mention of the latest renewables tender held in May offering contracts with a total power of 350MW for solar projects up to 20MW and an average charge of 37.6 euros/MWh.
Pricing ranged from 32.97 to 51.2 euros/MWh. EY said the tender included 126 renewable projects with a total power of 1.1GW, a result of last year’s reform in the licensing procedure and the implementation of a rapid digital process for tenders.
Following the restructuring of the licensing procedure, the regulatory watchdog has received applications of a total power of 85GW, raising the total power of possible investments to more than 100GW, significantly more than the 19GW the country needs to achieve a target for participating in the mixture of electricity power by 61 pct until 2030.
