Third Nazi Salute by Golden Dawn Defence Lawyer Kostas Plevris in Court

October 17, 2022

ATHENS – Defence lawyer Kostas Plevris, who is representing convicted former MEP Yiannis Lagos in the appeal against his conviction as a member of the far-right criminal organisation Golden Dawn, performed a nazi salute in court for the third time on Monday, this time in full view of the judges.

Plevris, the father of the Greek health minister Thanos Plevris, is already being investigated by a public prosecutor and has been summoned to a disciplinary hearing at the Athens Bar association for the previous occasions when he performed a nazi salute in court, though at that time the court had just gone into recess and the judges were not present.

The defence lawyer also declared himself a supporter of the Greek dictator Ioannis Metaxas and claimed the salute was that adopted by Metaxas supporters.
