Tarantilis: Greece’s Priority Is the Protection of the Public Health

ATHENS — As we have said from the beginning of the pandemic, its development is dynamic and does not follow a linear trajectory, government spokesman Christos Tarantilis said οn Thursday during a press briefing.

"The government is closely monitoring the epidemiological data and the scientists' recommendation and decides upon the necessary measures," he added.

"Our priority is the protection of the public health and the restoration of, as much as possible, operation of the education and the economy. Additionally, as long as the epidemiological conditions force us to take restriction measures, the government will continue to support the enterprises and the employees as well as of the unemployed," he underlined.

Reffering to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' programme in the following days, government spokesman Christos Tarantilis announced that on Saturday 6 February the premier will visit the islands of Ikaria, Fourni and Thymena. On Monday 8 February he will pay a working visit to Cyprus and will meet with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades to discuss the developments on the Cyprus issue. Later, we will visit Israel and will meet with the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu. The two top officials will discuss the bilateral relations, the closer cooperation between the two countries as well as the developments in the region.
