Staikouras in Luxembourg for Ecofin and Eurogroup Meetings

ATHENS – Finance Minister Christos Staikouras is travelling to Luxembourg on Monday in order to participate in the Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings with his Euro-area and EU counterparts.

Eurozone finance ministers are meeting on Monday to exchange views with the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development Mathias Cormann. They are expected to focus on fiscal policy to counteract high energy prices and inflationary pressures, among other issues.

After the Eurogroup meeting, Staikouras will take part in a dinner celebrating the 10th anniversary since the foundation of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).

On Tuesday, the minister will attend a meeting of the Ecofin council, where EU ministers are expected to discuss energy prices, developments in the financial markets and proposals for a directive on the REPowerEU and Recovery and Resilience Facility funds, as well as other topics.
