Presvytera Nancy Serviou Is Mourned

PITSBURGH – Surrounded by her loving family, Presvytera Nancy Serviou, age 80, died peacefully after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Nancy, daughter of the late Michael and Evangelia Angelakos, was born in Trenton, NJ and grew up in Bound Brook, NJ. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Rev. Fr. Sarantos Serviou and her three daughters Fanya Serviou, Lisa Oddo (John), and Demetra Serviou, her loving grandchildren Thanna and Johnnie Oddo, and her siblings Tina Papazoglou (late Adam) and Peter Angelakos (Stephanie). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Nancy graduated from Douglas Women’s College in New Brunswick, NJ and went on to be a teacher in her early career. Later in life, after moving to Pittsburgh with her family, Nancy worked at Carnegie Mellon University for many years, where she was the Secretary to the Provost, then later as the Graduate Program Coordinator for the Robotics Institute. From a young age, Nancy always enjoyed playing the piano, especially in the church where she met her loving husband at a young age. Nancy was an avid reader, a fierce Words with Friends player, and a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. A talented artist, she enjoyed pencil sketching, oil painting, and restoring antique furniture.

The family would like to thank Nancy's care team at Concordia of Cranberry who cared for her over the last seven years as well as Good Samaritan Hospice of Wexford whose kindness to Nancy and her family will always be remembered.

Presbytera Nancy was laid to rest on Saturday, May 8, 2021. May her memory be eternal!
