Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ATHENS – The Municipality of Athens on Thursday announced that it will compensate vehicle owners for damage caused by fallen trees during the snowstorm.
According to an announcement on Thursday, the mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis ordered the municipal agencies responsible to deal with the relevant compensation requests as a priority. To qualify, the vehicles must have been parked either in public spaces or on a road for which the municipality is responsible.

Τhe Operations Centre of the Fire Brigade has received a total of 2,354 calls in Attica from January 24 until Thursday at 8:00 in the morning.
In addition:
* 1,054 people were transported to a safe location
* 522 trees were cut
* 412 people were transported to and from health facilities for dialysis or medical care; and
* 126 people were taken out of elevators where they were trapped
The Fire Brigade in Attica remained on general alert and continued to operate in various areas.
