Mitsotakis: Agreement with France of National Importance

ATHENS — Addressing an online meeting of the Cabinet on Monday, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis highlighted important aspects of the defence agreement signed with France, while he also referred to the government's reform agenda, which he said was going ahead unhindered in spite of all difficulties.

"Today, we come together after the conclusion of an agreement national importance, which significance extends beyond the current moment and we are faced with a challenge of economic and social recovery that runs through constitutional terms. So, from today, we talk less and work harder", Mitsotakis said.

He referred in detail to the agreement with France, which he described as being of "multiple significance and unprecedented for the country". He noted that it was a development that clearly strengthens the Greek Armed Forces, as it is accompanied by the acquisition of three ultra modern frigates for the Hellenic Navy, that follows from the acquisition of 24 Rafale fighter jets that reinforced our Hellenic Air Force".

The prime minister said that the next general elections will be held when the time comes, as provided by the Constitution, at the end of the government's four-year term.

Addressing the Cabinet he underlined that the government must also promote the actions that it decides on, not simply take them.
