PHILADELPHIA – The Greek-American Heritage Society of Philadelphia announced that the documentary film In Support of Liberty; Philadelphia and the Greek War of Independence is now available for streaming on Mometu: https://bit.ly/3K4PjcI.

The film explores the little-known history of Philadelphia’s support for and connections to the Greek War of Independence, highlighting how Philhellenes in America embraced and echoed Greek values during that time.

Narrated by Greek-American Professor of History Alexander Kitroeff, the film features a variety of montages and interviews to introduce the audience to early 19th-century Philadelphia. It is directed and produced by Eleftherios Kostans, a veteran international photographer and content creator who has worked for various organizations, agencies, and publications. The film is sponsored by The Greek American Heritage Society of Philadelphia, dedicated to preserving and promoting Hellenism and the Greek-American experience in Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley.

Mometu is accessible on several popular streaming services like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Apple iOS, and Google Play, offering thousands of hours of content. You can watch it for free on Mometu’s video-on-demand streaming entertainment platform.

The Society also noted that Arykas and Ybots, an award-winning Hollywood Public Relations Firm, is representing the film and several international streaming services and other platforms are reportedly discussing additional distribution.

Dr. Elias Anthony Iliadis, President of the Greek-American Heritage Society of Philadelphia, said: “We hope you will take this opportunity to watch In Support of Liberty; Philadelphia and the Greek War of Independence and learn more about the Greek War of Independence.”
