Greece Lifting Coronavirus Measures, Health Min. Says

ATHENS – Measures to SARS-CoV-2 infections will be lifted, except in the case of public and private health facilities and nursing homes for the elderly, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

Minister Thanos Plevris said he proposed the lifting of measures at the ministry’s coronavirus experts committee that met earlier in the day, and the committee agreed.

The formal end of the coronavirus measures for the general public will be announced shortly.

“What remains however is the need to protect vulnerable groups against Covid-19 and for this reason, we recommend keeping the measures of personal protection, updating vaccination, and taking antivirus therapy if infected,” the minister said.

The virus appeared in Greece in February 2020, and measures that were introduced in Greece shortly after were updated on a periodic base thereafter.
