Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
BRUSSELS– The European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee approved a draft recommendation on Thursday that will lift immunity of sentenced far-right MEP Ioannis Lagos, according to a European source.
The final decision rests with a vote in the European Parliament's plenary session.
Lagos was sentenced to 13 years in prison by a Greek appeals court in October 2020 for his membership in neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn, ruled to be a criminal organization. Unlike other leading members of the organization who are currently serving similar sentences, Lagos – who became independent – could not be jailed due to his immunity as an MEP.
