Dendias Meets with US Ambassador Tsunis

ATHENS – Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias met on Tuesday with the US Ambassador George Tsunis and exchanged Notes Verbales on the ratification of the Second Protocol of Amendement to the MDCA by Greece and USA respectively.

“It It is my great pleasure today to hand you the Note Verbale on the ratification of the Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement, the MDCA, between Greece and the United States, by the Hellenic Parliament. As you know, it was ratified by a broad majority of more than 3/5 of the MPs. One hundred and eighty-one (181) Greek MPs voted in favour of the MDCA, and I have to say that the debate in the Hellenic Parliament regardless of the parties’ positions, demonstrated that the overwhelming majority, even more than 181 MPs, deeply believes in Greece’s relationship with the US. So, with these thoughts in mind, and with the hope that your presence here will continue to contribute to the further deepening of our relations, and expressing the Greek Government’s gratitude for the exceptional reception you offered to Prime Minister Mitsotakis and us, as well as the exceptional reception offered to the Prime Minister in Congress, I am handing you the Note Verbale on the ratification of the Agreement” Dendias said in his statements.
