Cyprus President Expresses Condolences over Death of Former DISY Politician in Evia Floods

NICOSIA — A former general director of the Democratic Rally (DISY) party of Cyprus was the last of eight victims so far of the destructive weather on Evia, authorities revealed on Monday.

Giorgos Liveras, 72, was a close associate of DISY leader Glafcos Clerides and of current Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades.

His body, recovered in the sea of Agii Apostoli near Kalamos, was recognized by relatives and friends. He had gone missing since dawn on Sunday at Burdzi in Evia.

President Anastasiades expressed his grief and condolences in a post on Twitter.
