Athens Conferences Focuses on British Philhellenism in the Greek Revolution

ATHENS – Philhellenism and the Greek Revolution of 1821: Towards a Global History, an international conference co-organized by the National Library of Greece (NLG) and the British School at Athens (BSA), will take place from March 15-17, 2023, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens. The conference is part of a Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) grant to the British School at Athens to support a project on British philhellenism.

By bringing together an interdisciplinary team of historians, archivists, and IT experts, this project aims to shed new light on the relationship between philhellenism and the Greek Revolution of 1821, with a focus on Great Britain and on previously unpublished archives held at the BSA and the NLG.
