ATHENS – The Consul General of Ukraine in Thessaloniki, Vadym Sabluk, on Wednesday addressed an appeal to Greeks to help the families of people fleeing the war in Ukraine, providing them with free houses or rooms to live in.
“It is difficult to estimate how many refugees there will be from Ukraine, because they are leaving in different directions. They leave via Poland, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Slovakia and Greece. They flee to many countries and we can not calculate the exact number. I can say, however, that the number of refugees will be large and for this reason we ask whoever can help, the Greek citizens, who can provide their private homes or rooms to do so,” said Sabluk in his statements on the Athens-Macedonian News Agency radio station “Praktoreio 104.9 FM”.
Sabluk said the seventh day of the war in Ukraine was “very difficult”, adding that “things are getting worse every day”, as “Russian aggression is growing and they are attacking the Ukrainian capital, Kiev” and many of the Ukrainian citizens are leaving their homes following “Russian attacks on non-combatant populations, on homes.”
