President Anastasiades and New UN Official to Meet on Friday

Nicos Anastasiades, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, will receive the new Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide on Friday.

Christodoulides was asked to comment on statements made by Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu that Ambassador Andreas Mavroyiannis, the Greek Cypriot negotiator, asked for the postponement of a leaders` meeting that was originally planned September 2. Christodoulides said the meeting was postponed due to absence from Cyprus of the UN Secretary General`s Special Representative in Cyprus, Lisa Buttenheim.

The SG`s Good Offices Mission in Cyprus announced last Friday that Eide will make his first visit to Cyprus between Sept. 5 and 8.
