ATHENS – Rampaging at will in Greece’s capital – they threw paint on the entrance of Parliament – anarchists backing a furlough for a jailed terrorist killer vandalized an election kiosk of New Democracy’s candidate for the city’s Mayor, Costas Bakoyannis.

The attackers were shouting slogans for Dimitris Koufodinas, who’s hospitalized while on a hunger strike protesting the rejection of his demand for a seventh vacation from a low-security farm where he was transferred from a high-security prison.

The assault followed the modus operandi of the notorious group Rouvikonas, splashing paint, spray-painting anarchist symbols on the kiosk in front of the Old Parliament near Syntagma Square, before running away, said Kathimerini.

Elections for Greek municipalities and the European Parliament are coming May 26 with surveys showing New Democracy candidates ahead of the ruling Radical Left SYRIZA of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, whose party has terrorist and anarchist sympathizers.

The attack took place after a violent protest in support of Koufodinas, one of the leaders of the November 17 terror group that killed 23 people, including five Americans attached to the US Embassy over the years as well Bakoyannis’ father, Pavlos, in 1989.

Speaking after the attack, Bakoyannis said,  “If they believe in God, they’d better pray that I am not elected mayor,” as New Democracy vowed to end lawlessness to a city under siege by anarchists, with critics saying the violence is condoned by Tsipras.

The anarchists also splashed paint earlier this month on the home of US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt and targeted banks, other buildings, and political parties – even included SYRIZA, as they accused Tsipras of caving in to the country’s creditors and lenders.
