Archbishop Ieronymos in Stable Condition, Says Medical Report

November 20, 2020

ATHENS — Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens & All Greece, treated at Evangelismos Public Hospital since Thursday morning for mild Covid-19 symptoms, is in stable condition, hospital authorities said on the same evening.

According to the latest medical report, Ieronymos presented only a mild fever on Thursday evening but no other symptoms.

"The transfer of the archbishop to an increased care unit was carried out for precautionary reasons," said the Holy Archdiocese of Athens spokesman Charis Konidaris to ANT1 TV.

Although now coronavirus-positive, the Archbishop had tested negative in two separate recent tests, one on November 7 and another on November 14, two hours before his meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, said Konidaris.

Therefore, he must have contracted the virus either some time over the last weekend, or on Monday, he concluded.
