PM Mitsotakis Chairs Meeting on Support Measures for Culture Sector

ATHENS – The support of the workers in the culture sector was the issue of a video call meeting held on Wednesday morning chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Among the issues discusssed, according to government sources, was the inclusion of more employees of the culture sector in the measures already announced by the government as well as the short-term and mid-term support of culture.

Culture Minister Lina Mendoni is going to participate, along with government spokesperson Stelios Petsas, in the press briefing on Thursday and will present the measures for the support of the sector.

The same sources said that these actions will be added to the government's initiatives to support the people of culture as for example a 800-euro special purpose compensation to employees with active contracts or people belonging to special categories before the restriction measures as well as programmes for the unemployed artists.

Finance Minister Christos Staikouras, Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis, Labour Minister Yiannis Vroutsis, Culture and Sports Minister Lina Mendoni, State Minister to the Prime Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister responsible for the coordination of the government's work Akis Skertsos, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and government spokesman Stelios Petsas, the Prime Minister's general secretary Grigoris Dimitriadis, the head of the prime minister's economic Bureau Alexis Patelis participated in the meeting.
