Dendias: Greece Has the Will and Capability to Defend Its National Interests

ATHENS — "With confidence in our strengths and our international alliances, we have the will and the capability to effectively defend our national interests," Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias commented on Friday, in statements after concluding a round of meetings to brief the opposition parties on the Greek-Italy agreement delimiting the two countries' maritime zones.

"The briefing of the opposition parties was concluded today, with my meetings with [George Katrougalos] from SYRIZA and [Andreas Loverdos] on behalf of the Movement for Change (KINAL)," Dendias said in a Twitter post. "I had the opportunity to brief [them] on more general issues concerning the foreign policy of the country," he added.

"I had the opportunity, also, to offer assurances that with confidence in our strengths and our international alliances, we have the will and the capability to effectively defend our national interests," Dendias said.

"The unity of the Greek people, trust in international law, the deterrent defence capability of the country and the support of our allies and partners are the strong pillars of the national effort to secure our sovereignty and our sovereign rights," the minister concluded.
