Mitsotakis Visits IT Firm TeamViewer in Ioannina

IOANNINA.Continuing his tour of Ioannina on Friday, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the research and development centre of the international information technology company TeamViewer.

Government sources noted that the area around Ioannina hosts a large number of technology companies and university graduates working in computer science and software development.

"Who could have imagined that Ioannina would have the necessary conditions to become a technology hub," said the prime minister, expressing his joy at the fact that technology companies decided to operate in Ioannina and take advantage of the "exceptional talent of students graduating from our universities."

The TeamViewer Center, which has been operating since early 2020, currently employs 50 software engineers, a number that is projected to increase to 150 to 200 in the coming years.

The prime minister was welcomed, among others, by the CEO of TeamViewer, Oliver Steil, the General Manager and Head of the Greek team, Philipp Deutscher, and the Managing Director of DACH Permira, Jorg Rockenhauser.

"What impresses me the most – every time I talk to technology companies that have decided to explore the landscape in Greece – is the enthusiasm with which they talk about young Greeks and their talent," Mitsotakis said.

The CEO of TeamViewer, Oliver Steil, noted that the centre of Ioannina "is one of the largest research and development centres of TeamViewer in the world as in the past we recruited in Stuttgart, in southwestern Germany."

Mitsotakis visits Ioannina Vaccination Centre

Earlier today, PM Mitsotakis, during his short visit on Friday to the city of Ioannina, visited the Ioannina Vaccination Centre. In his statements, the prime minister spoke of the operation "Eleftheria" and urged the citizens to get vaccinated.

"We visited the mega Vaccination Centre which was organised within a short period and will start operating next week. It is important infrastructrure which is added to the wider region of Ioannina. Over 103,000 vaccinations have been carried out in Ioannina and 7.2 million in Greece," he said.

"The "Eleftheria" programme is moving quickly and with great effectiveness. We continue to range at around 100,000 vaccination a day but the the important thing from now on is to persuade our compatriots as the platforms for all age groups have opened and young people should make haste to be vaccinated in order to enjoy the summer. I am certain that we will see higher participation in the vaccination platform. We have all the vaccines we need at our disposal in order to vaccinate all the citizens that wish to do it and I am certain that this will happen," added the prime minister.
