To the Editor:

In response to the “Whitestone Day School Closes” and “Yet Another School Closes-Why?’ articles from July 8, I would like to commend The National Herald for their exposure of such an embarrassing and sad reality regarding Greek education in America and for the obvious lack of responsibility, accountability, and distorted priorities our leadership displays on such a fundamental and critical issue.

Has everyone forgotten the sacrifices our parents and their parents made to keep the Greek language and Greek heritage alive and instill in us a deep sense of pride in our rich heritage? I would also add in support of the article and opinion, that although the established and renowned organization Leadership100 charter states “support of Greek religion and education” it disproportionally grants to religious causes (over 90%?) over Greek education… again the distorted priorities of the leadership in my humble opinion.
