George M. Valeras Will Be Missed, Was 74

NASHUA, NH – George M. Valeras, 74, died peacefully Friday, November 13, surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Eleni (Economopoulos) Valeras with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage in September.

George was born in Argyrohori, Greece and was the son of the late Michael and Marigo (Kolematsi) Valeras. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1969.

Most recently, he was employed by Raytheon as a mechanical maintenance technician for 35 years until his retirement. Prior to working at Raytheon, he was self- employed as a plumber for many years.

In his free time, George enjoyed being outdoors, from hunting, which was a favorite hobby, to taking his beloved dogs on a wonderful hike. He truly loved to take trips with his wife annually to Greece to visit family.

He was a member of the St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church and the Order of AHEPA. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family, especially when he could coach his children’s soccer teams when they were younger, and family gatherings where they enjoyed each other’s company and listening and dancing to Greek music.

In addition to his wife Eleni, he is survived by his two sons, Angelo George Valeras and his wife Stephanie Valeras of Nashua (his 2nd grandchild Noah John Valeras is due in February 2021) and Stephanos D. Valeras and his wife Amy Valeras of Pelham, his grandchild, Brinley Georgia Valeras; his brothers, Christoforos Valeras and his wife Angeliki of Lowell, and his identical twin, Evangelos Valeras of Nashua. He is also survived by his nephews, Michael Valeras and his wife Susan of Nottingham and their son Jason, Michael Valeras and his wife Jacey, Demetrios Valeras and his wife Kylee and their sons, Kristopherr and Lukas, Andrew Valeras and his wife Aimie B. and their children Ayanna, Alique, and Arcadia; his nephew Anthony Valeras; and his niece Marisa Valeras.

George was predeceased by his brother Harry Valeras and his wife Penelope; his sister-in-law, Catherine Valeras, and his nephew Bill Valeras.

Relatives and friends were invited to George’s WALK THROUGH visitation on November 17 at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church. His Funeral Service followed in the Church and interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua, NH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in George’s name to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church.
