Gianaris Formally Nominates Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins to Serve as Senate Leader

ALBANY – Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris began the 2021 State Senate session on January 6 by formally nominating Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins to continue serving as Senate Leader. Senator Gianaris serves as the Senate’s Deputy Leader, the second-highest ranking member of the State Senate and highest-ranking Senator from New York City.

“Our first term in the majority was one of historic progressive achievement, recognized by New Yorkers who voted for an unprecedented supermajority for our conference,” said Senate Deputy Leader Gianaris. “I am privileged to nominate Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins to continue her incredible tenure as our Leader as we push further into the future.”
