Greece: Emergency Meetings on Extreme Weather Conditions (Vid)

ATHENS – Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chryssochoidis has been at the coordination centre since early on Monday for emergency meetings in order to solve problems as a result of the heavy rainfall in Attica and other regions of the country.

Ships remain docked at the port of Rafina and the sea service to Marmari and to the islands of Cyclades has been suspended due to strong winds, up to 8 on the Beaufort scale blowing in the Aegean Sea.

Moreover, the sea routes Lavrio-Kea and Aghia Marina-Nea Styra are not carried out while the hydrofoils are not carrying out the service to the Argosaronic Gulf islands.

The sea routes Poros-Kyllini, and Sami-Patras were suspended on Sunday as well as the sea service linking island of Zakynthos with Kyllini.

The sea route Kyllini-Zakynthos was also suspended late on Sunday.

Double ended open type ferries are not conducting the sea route at the ports of Corfu, Lefkimmi and Igoumenitsa.

Additionally, the urban railway (proastiakos) are not carrying out the route Kiato-Piraeus and vice versa.
