The SNF’s Co-President, Andreas Dracopoulos, Τalks to ERT.gr

July 20, 2018

ATHENS – In an interview with the website of the Greek Public Television, ERT, the Co-President of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), Mr. Andreas Dracopoulos, discussed, among others, the vision that inspired and continues to inspire SNF’s philanthropic activity around the world as well as the state of the Greek economy and the social impact of the crisis.

Mr. Dracopoulos, inter alia, talked about the future of the country and the potential of the Greek society and youth, noting that “When I travel and meet young Greeks who work abroad in senior positions, I tell them, “I am happy for you and I am delighted that you are doing well, but I feel sorry for our country.” And so do they. Because it is unfortunate when young people are forced to leave the country. On the one hand things may getting better – and I think they are in fact better – namely, that we are gradually emerging from the crisis and that the worst is behind us, but, on the other hand, our infrastructures and mindset are our vulnerabilities.”

Talking about the Foundation’s overall work and the wide range of areas that it covers, Mr. Dracopoulos also referred to SNF’s new Health Initiative, mentioning that “[…] I am very optimistic that it will become a project similar to the Cultural Center in terms of quality, and that it will benefit greatly our society.”
