NEW YORK, NY – Rifts, divisions, and turmoil plagued the Holy Trinity parish in Indianapolis, IN during the pastorship of Rev. Anastasios “Tasos” Gounaris as hundreds of documents acquired by TNH reflect. Gounaris was officially installed on June 3 as Dean of the Holy Trinity Archdiocesan Cathedral of New York by Archbishop Demetrios, who handpicked him personally. The documents disclose problems that included verbal and physical attacks from Gounaris against parishioners to the point that “he had to be physically restrained by others.” In one instance, Gounaris reportedly pushed and threw to the floor a parish council member, Angelo Zarvas, during parish council elections on December 12, 1999. Gounaris believed that Zarvas had no authority to be present at the election.

How about the Metropolitan of Denver. After three years of appointed Parish Councils, attempts to divide the community he finally promises after Resounding losses on two occasions Free and Fair elections. After information provided by his clergy:Fr.Kouremetis-Fr.Gilber t we got a letter stating how many people have given so much money for stewardship,in details!A very christian way... Is the Archdiocese keeping an eye on Salt Lake City? Our two priests should be removed from here at once. They have destroyed our community in their efforts to help the Metropolitan of Denver to succeed is His quest. The Holy Synod should retire Isaiah. Time is up!

The most disturbing part of this whole article is the face licking. I can make sense of the temper tantrums , the verbal assaults , the pushing, the repenting and kissing for forgiveness but I can't make sense of the face licking. This is what dogs do!

Agreed, Niko. The face-licking screams of lunacy. But the rest of it is an example of why our younger Greek-American generation asks: "Now, exactly WHY did you say I should go to Church?"
