Two Housed Communities at Saronikos Municipality Ordered to Evacuate

ATHENS — The Civil Protection Secretariat on Wednesday ordered the evacuation of some of Saronikos municipality's housed communities that are threatened by an uncontrolled fire blazing in the area.

The areas of Feriza, Olympos, Agricultural Bank (ATE community) and Agiasmothi, as well as the Argo boarding school have all been evacuated.

In two separate 112 emergency alert messages to civilians, inhabitants in the area of Agios Panteleimonas and Aris Saronidas were ordered to evacuate and head to the beach at Palea Fokea.

Some 117 firefighters with 35 fire engines, 7 ground teams, five water-bombing aircraft, alongside volunteers and municipal water cannons are all battling the blaze.
