Tremor Measuring 4.4 on the Richter Scale Shakes Chalkidiki

ATHENS — A light tremor measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale was recorded at 00:16 on Friday, 125 km east-southeast of Thessaloniki, in the sea region of Chalkidiki.

The earthquake was felt in Chalkidiki.

According to professor of seismology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Manolis Skordilis, so far there has been only one aftershock with a magnitude of 2.6 Richter. As the professor stated to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, "the specific area has not given strong earthquakes in the past. But we have had bigger earthquakes in the wider area."
