ATHENS — "Greece has done it", Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said on Thursday. Speaking in Parliament, commenting on the completion of a 30-year bond issue, Staikouras said that the country successfully completed a 30-year bond issue for the first time since 2008 and added that this issue excelled for the significant demand, the low borrowing cost and its exceptional quality.
It is an issue that signals the full return of the country to international markets throughout the yield curve and highlights and reaffirms even more emphatically, compared with all previous debt issues, "the confidence of the international investment community in the management, the potential and the outlook of the Greek economy". The Greek FinMin noted that with this bond issue and through the sacrifices of society, Greece has pulled through, while investors showed confidence not only with debt issues but by foreign direct investments in Greece.
