ALBANY – New York State Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris on March 5 delivered a floor speech on the bill repealing the Governor’s expanded executive powers. He had led the Senate debate on the legislation.
Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris said, “Our legislature values people’s health and what we need to do to protect it. This bill repeals the Governor’s ability to issue directives, implements new standards for ones currently in effect, and for the first time gives the legislature the ability to repeal the entire state of emergency without the Governor’s approval. This is an important bill, and I am glad the Senate passed it today.”
