ATHENS – Greece will participate in the Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC 2018) taking place in Barcelona from February 26 to March 1, Digital Policy, Telecoms and Information Minister Nikos Pappas said in a press conference on Tuesday.
The Greek delegation is organised jointly by the ministry, the Hellenic Association of Mobile Applications Companies (SEKEE), and Enterprise Greece, an official state agency promoting investment in and exports from Greece.
It is supported by the Federation of Information and Telecom Businesses of Greece (SEPE) and the Corallia cluster.
The delegation will use the motto “Greece Scales Up” to underline Greece’s commitment to expand the use of technology in Greece and the economy in particular.
Greece must take advantage of its geographic location – between developed European economies and emerging ones of North Africa – and “become a hub of transportation, telecoms and trade – but it needs dependable networks and a dynamic telecoms sector,” Pappas said.
SEKEE president Constantine Chaniotis said that the Greek delegation will include approximately 35 companies. Greece will also participate in the “4 Years From Now” (within MWC 2018) to connect startups, investors and corporations in order to launch new ventures together.
