Marietta Diner in Marietta, Georgia was named by Buzzfeed as the state’s best but for the first time in 25 years is catering only to take-out because of the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
The news site put it on the list of 21 American Diners You Should Eat At Before You Die, perhaps not such apt wording, and as owner Gus Tselios is trying to keep it going with curbside service.
“We were able to keep the diner open and provide our delicious meals in a different way without having the dine in service,” Tselios told CBSNews 46, saying it’s too soon to reopen but the diner has 24-hour pickup service.
“I think we should keep focusing on curbside take-out for not just my restaurants, but for all restaurants to get some revenue flowing and this way we can keep people safe and we will monitor things daily,” Tselios said.
He decided to keep the dining room closed although Gov. Brian Kemp lifted a lockdown on restaurants. “If you bring the rest of the staff in for full dine-in you really don’t know what to expect either,” he said.
