Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ATHENS — The Greek unemployment rate was 17 pct of the workforce in April, from 15.9 pct in April 2020 and 16.8 pct in March this year, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday.
The statistics service, in a monthly report, said that the number of unemployed totaled 762,553 in April, up 31,202 compared with April 2020 (4.3 pct) and up 3.0 pct compared with March 2021. The number of employed people totaled 3,714,575 in April, down 4 pct from April 2020 and up 1.1 pct from March 2021. People not included in the workforce totaled 3,391,650, up 2.8 pct from April 2020 and down 1.8 pct from March 2021. The unemployment rate among women was 21.4 pct in April from 18.7 pct in April last year, while among men it was unchanged at 13.6 pct (13.7 pct).
The 15-24 age group recorded the highest unemployment rate (46.8 pct) from 33.6 pct in April 2020, while in the 25-74 age group the unemployment rate was 15.6 pct, up from 14.9 pct in the same month last year.
