Greek Priest in Acid Attack on Bishops Readying His Defense

ATHENS – Α 37-year-old priest charged with tossing a caustic liquid at seven senior Greek Bishops at his disciplinary hearing is set to testify about what happened and his defense on June 29.

The priest, whose photo was shown on Kathimerini but his name not given was given an extra day because his medical file had not been sent to the magistrate’s office. 

The attack took place at a hearing before Bishops over the priest alleging trafficking in drugs. The victims suffered injuries from a corrosive liquid on their face and hands and are being treated in hospitals.

The priest was committed to the Dromokaitio mental health hospital under police guard pending a psychiatric evaluation, the report said.
