Greek Coast Guard Rescues 171 Migrants and Refugees; Hundreds Arrived in the Last 24h

The Greek Coast Guard located and rescued 177 migrants and refugees in the Aegean over the last 24 hours.

Specifically, the coast guard located and rescued 177 foreign nationals and arrested three traffickers in the sea regions of Lesvos, Chios and Kos.

At the same time another 234 migrants and refugees reached with dinghies the coasts of Lesvos, Chios and Samos.

Meanwhile, the ferry Nissos Samos arrived on Wednesday morning at the port of Piraeus transferring 166 migrants a d refugees from Mytilene and 130 from Chios. Additionally, the ferry Blue Star 1 also docked at Piraeus carrying 20 migrants and refugees from Kos and 262 from Leros.

The foreign nationals will be transferred to hosting facilities on the Greek mainland.
