ATHENS – The death of a 54-year-old unvaccinated woman in a Greek public hospital who died from COVID-19 is being probed by a prosecutor after a report that she reached out on social media to stop her from being put on a ventilator.
The woman, whose name wasn't given, was an anti-vaxxer, a small but vehement group in Greece who don't believe the vaccines are safe or effective or a part of a conspiracy to alter their DNA and control their minds.
Doctors recommended she be put on a ventilator in an Intensive Care Unit because of low oxygen levels, but the woman, for reasons not given, didn't want it and asked strangers to help her stop the process from going ahead.
The inquiry will try to find out if anyone unrelated to the hospital prevented or obstructed the patient’s timely intubation, following up reports that some responded to her call to stop it, but it wasn't said how.
Anyone found responsible could face charges of lethal exposure to danger and violation of the law on the transmission of infectious diseases, said Kathimerini in a report on the case.
