Greece: Nursing Homes in Areas With High COVID-19 Loads to Be Tested Every Two Weeks

ATHENS — All nursing home residents and staff in areas with a high coronavirus case load will be tested for the virus every two weeks, Deputy Labor and Social Affairs Minister Domna Michailidou said on Thursday.

Michailidou told the president of care facilities for the aged Stelios Prosalikas that the decision was based on a recommendation of the Committee for the Protection of Vulnerable Groups. Along with the testing, the facilities will also be inspected for compliance with hygiene protocols, she added.

The minister and Prosalikas met on Thursday morning for a briefing in which they also discussed nursing home licensing and fines for violations.
