Greece: 1,305 New Cases, 33 Covid-19 Deaths on Sunday; 348 Patients in ICUs

ATHENS – There were 1,305 laboratory-confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection and 33 deaths from Covid-19 in Greece during the last 24 hours, the National Public Health Organisation (NPHO) announced on Sunday. Of the new cases, 14 were detected in checks at the country's borders.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic in Greece to 630,784 (daily change 0.2 pct), of which 51 pct are men. Of the confirmed cases in the last seven days, 143 are linked to travel abroad and 3,111 to already known cases. The total number of deaths from Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic has risen to 14,466, of which 95.4 pct had either an underlying condition or were above 70 years old.

The number of Covid-19 patients in hospital ICUs was 348 over the same period, of which 63.8 pct were men. Their median age was 64 years old and 80.2 pct had either an underlying condition or were aged over 70. Of the patients in ICUs, 318 (91.38 pct) were not or not fully vaccinated and 30 (8.62 pct) were fully vaccinated. Since the start of the pandemic, 3,087 patients had been discharged from ICUs.

The number of new Covid-19 patients admitted to hospitals was 192 (daily change -0.52 pct) while the rolling average for the past seven days was 198 patients per day. The median age of cases was 39 years old, while the median age of those dying of Covid-19 was 78 years old.
