Divorced Couples in Greece Could Share Decisions Over Children

ATHENS – A legal reform bill allowing both parents in families of divorce in Greece to have an equal say in child care issues, including their schooling and health matters has been proposed by the New Democracy government.

It would bring the first major changes in Family Law in the country in 38 years, the bill sent to the Parliament the government controls by Justice Minister Konstantinos Tsiaras for debate soon.

It could become law before May ends, said Kathimerini, the ministry saying the aim is to provide for the joint exercise of parental responsibility in an atmosphere of cooperation and not confrontation over critical issues for their children.
